Christmas in Lake Oswego

Traveling down the streets of Lake Oswego this season is just beautiful.  Holiday lights and decor put a smile on my face as I do my local shopping.  Many of us will be out this week end bringing home fresh trees to decorate during our Trim a Tree party.  Where did that tradtion from from?

DID YOU KNOW?    The tradition of Christmas trees was started in 16th century Germany.

Martin Luther, a German theologian, is thought to have popularized the concept. On a brisk, clear Christmas Eve, Luther was walking home under a bright, starry sky, which was so beautiful that he wanted to recreate its beauty for his children. His idea was to decorate a large evergreen with glowing candles, a custom we still honor today, but a bit safer with glowing strings of lights.

To our friends and families of Lake Oswego, Merry Christmas.
